AIT Sets School Improvement Goals for 2013

AIT met again this week to draft this years School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals. After nearly 5 hours of analyzing data, researching the NYS Reform Agenda and breaking down the District “Envision Greece 2017” Strategic Plan over two days, we discovered that the three areas we focused on last year are exactly the right areas to continue working on. We also discovered that we need to dig deep into each area to better understand the root causes, implement ongoing monitoring and accountability measures and work on the areas that have the highest potential impact. Over the coming several years, we will use the Cycle of Inquiry to guide our thinking, goal setting, action planning, implementation and monitoring.

The following three goals will guide our on going school improvement focus for this year:

Goal 1 – Graduation Rates: We will increase graduation rates by 2% to 92% of the total cohort.

Goal 2 – College and Career Readiness: We will increase by 3% the percentage of students at each grade level who are on track to graduation and college and career readiness (using a combination of measures including credit accrual, exam averages, dual credit and AP course enrollment and ELA and Algebra college readiness indicators).

Goal 3 – Safety and Wellness: We will fully implement the PBIS framework through the adoption and integration of behavior matrix and curriculum that will be taught in advisement and embedded in classroom instruction.

The Cycle of Inquiry requires us to analyze data, identify problems, set goals, look for further data, refine our goals and then set the plan into action. We are still at the early stages of the planning and would welcome input, ideas and the help of anyone interested in joining in the work of developing the action plan. This plan will be owned by all of us and the more people that can help with the development the better.
